At UW-ELAST’s production unit in Traryd, Småland, around 15 people work primarily on manufacturing various wear products in Trekollan, a material used for dampers, scrapers, concrete linings, and wheel and roller coatings.

Flexible manufacturing and rapid changeovers

– Our greatest strength is, as I see it, that we can manage flexible manufacturing and quickly adjust production to our customers’ requirements! Our strength lies in short lead times from enquiry to finished product. Collaboration with skilled suppliers also enables us to create a good and cost-effective solution for our customers. The factory in Traryd was known—before it was incorporated into UW-ELAST in 2007—under the name “Trekollan”, which today is one of UW-ELAST’s brands. The material has a number of very good properties, such as extremely high abrasion resistance and tear strength. The material is ester-based. Where the requirements for load are very high, we also work with Vulkollan®. A material system that is ideal for coating, for example, wheels that must carry a heavy load.

In addition to pure production of new parts in various grades, UW-ELAST in Traryd also has the capability to add value to products through waterjet cutting or punching of in-house manufactured sheets or of purchased sheets and fabrics. For example, rubber, nylon, Macrolon and silicone. We also have 4 machines for injection moulding. From 35 tonnes to 120 tonnes.

Rapid changeovers

UW-ELAST– Thanks to our machines and the flexibility of our materials, we never have any problems changing over production if a customer has tight timeframes or specific requirements.

Development within UW-ELAST’s production areas is ongoing. This means that you do not rest on your laurels, but continuously stay up to date with both new materials and new machinery and equipment.

– When UW-ELAST took over the business in 2007, it meant, among other things, that we gained an owner with completely different resources than we had previously. In addition, we gained a management team that truly believes in what we do and also invests in new machines so that we can continue our positive development, says Anders Bjernalt.

– One example of this is that we built a completely new blasting facility, which meant that we could ensure our customers’ requirements for adhesion/bonding to metal, for example when we coat heavily loaded wheels and rollers with polyurethane, Anders Bjernalt concludes, adding: Our long-standing slogan is: “Stop and coat!”
