Casting

Moulded components for demanding industrial environments

Moulding is perhaps the most common method for manufacturing and casting a polyurethane part.

Almost 90% of our operations consist of moulded polyurethane products. Our focus is always on developing components that meet our customers’ needs, whether for shorter or longer production runs. In our world, a long run can consist of two identical parts.
Not infrequently, we are involved in developing moulded polyurethane parts that were previously manufactured in other materials. When we are involved at an early stage of development, our expertise and many years of experience often enable us to produce parts of very high quality, with maintained—or even improved—properties compared with traditional materials.
Our moulded parts are used across large parts of heavy industry: offshore, energy, machine building, steel and paper, mining, and automotive. We often say jokingly: “It must not be easy—otherwise anyone could do it!”

UW-ELAST designs, develops, and manufactures polyurethane products. We assist you from idea to delivery and application; challenge us because solid polyurethane elastomer is an ideal construction material.

Moulding, sometimes referred to as hot casting

A mould is manufactured to define the dimensions of the finished part. In this way, we can manufacture wheels, rollers, machine parts, dampers, membranes, etc., with requirements for excellent material properties. Parts ranging in size from a few grams up to several hundred kilograms can be produced. In many cases, these are products with a metal core that is then given a polyurethane wear surface, also known as a coating. Hot casting is also used for recoating.

The method is suitable for small and medium-sized production runs.
