Thanks to our large, flexible machinery park and a broad material portfolio, we can tailor the appropriate material for every application.
Research and development at UW-ELAST AB
Research and development work at UW-ELAST involves identifying the specific properties that are not automatically included in the standard materials we source primarily from France, the USA, and Germany.
Each year, we produce more than 300 tons of elastomers for our customers. This can be compared to five tons during our first year of operation, or 70 tons in 1999.
All our development is driven by customer inquiries. This means we develop new products directly tailored to each customer’s needs. Since there are no standardized testing methods for what we produce, we perform the necessary tests and trials ourselves to guarantee the quality our customers have the right to expect. In our laboratory, we continuously perform testing on, for example, tensile strength, compression set, fatigue, abrasion, etc. Naturally, we also perform chemical analysis on incoming raw materials.
Developing a new material can take anywhere from five months to five years! Consequently, highly specialized requirements can lead to very long development times. Our operations are driven by our customers’ needs and wishes, which provide the inspiration for our work. We often collaborate very closely with our customers to
contribute our specialist expertise at an early stage in their development projects. This means we often tailor solutions that exclusively
suit a unique customer!
